in 1952, the united states air force conducted a series of tests known as “project blue book” — to investigate reports of unidentified flying objects (ufos) and determine whether they posed a threat to national security.
the project collected and analyzed thousands of reports of ufo sightings from around the world, and it concluded that most of the sightings could be explained by natural or man-made phenomena.
however, a small number of the sightings were deemed "unexplainable," 👽 and the project's findings generated widespread public interest and speculation about the existence of extraterrestrial life.
