fun wellness fact of the day: did you know that the "calorie in calorie out" model for weight loss has been disproven? The "eat less workout more" advice is completely wrong and here's why: Dr. Jason Fung (one of my favssss) has dedicated his career to understanding how insulin and our metabolism works. Essentially, the more insulin, the more storage of foods. If you eat a cake, your body won't process it. It will only store it. This just proves that even if you're only eating bread and working out a million hours a week, you will still gain weight because you will still STORE the food instead of using it. *Your metabolism is not some math equation, you're not a machine. Your metabolism needs different things at different times. Some things that impact your body's nutrient need: ᗒ hormones (this includes insulin) ᗒ illness ᗒ activity level ᗒ your need for healing ᗒ SLEEP so to think that you can establish ONE number and try to follow it based on ONE thing is absolutely CRAZY! Having one target is ignoring the reality of this ever-changing system.
